So I got out of Dothan easily because the place I stayed at was like 6 miles south of the city. I was crossing from Alabama into Florida yesterday and I felt like the backroads would be safe again. Well about an hour into the day I got a reminder that was not the case. When I came upon an unpaved road I looked ahead and it was only about 1.5 miles and the it was fairly solid so I could ride slowly. Well the next road on was unpaved as well and you can see in the picture of how treacherous it can be. It is grueling both physically and mentally and I was thrilled when it suddenly turned paved again as I neared Chipley, Florida! Ironically it was on that stretch that I crossed the border between states! The rest of the day I went back to being a car again on google maps to get a safe paved route! Sometimes you just have to shake your head and plug on and keep thinking "BEACH" "BEACH"! I made it and all that was left was to blog about it!
